Kansas Women's Basketball: Wake Forest Preview

The Kansas Lady Jayhawks and Wake Forest Demon Deacons face-off tomorrow at 2:00 pm. central time. Both teams enter the game at 2-0 overall, with Wake Forest defeating Coppin State and North Carolina-Wilmington. Kansas knocked off Idaho State and Southeast Missouri State.

Junior guard Chelsea Douglas

leads the Demon Deacons in scoring, averaging nearly 19 points per game. The guard scored 23 in the team’s season opener with Coppin State. Fellow starting guard Lakevia Boykin is averaging 18 points and four assists a game. Asia Williams, another key player for the Demon Deacons is averaging nearly six assists a contest. Forward Dearica Hamby is the team’s post threat, bringing in seven rebounds. She will be handed the huge task of slowing down senior forward Carolyn Davis.

Davis on the year is scoring 19 points per game. She totaled 27 points in the Jayhawks victory over Southeast Missouri State on Wednesday. Point guard Angel Goodrich also had a great game on Wednesday, totaling 17 points, eight assists and five steals.

Last year, Wake Forest won 20 games for just the second time ever. This season, even better things are expected of this team. Last year, Kansas made the NCAA tournament, something Wake Forest aspires to do. Expect a well played game tomorrow when the two clubs tip off.
