Kansas Football: Kansas and Iowa State News and Notes

The Kansas Jayhawks and Iowa State Cyclones face-off tomorrow at 6:00 pm. central time in Lawrence. The game will honor the Jayhawks 23 seniors.The game will be televised on FSN, and on the Jayhawk Radio Network.

Kansas is 1-9 on the season, and winless in seven tries for the Big 12. Iowa State counters with a 5-5 mark, and 2-5 in conference play. Overall, Kansas holds a 27-15 record vs the Cyclones in Lawrence. Kansas has a 9-7 advantage over Iowa State in past Big 12 conference play, and a 6-1 mark over the team at home.

One key senior the Jayhawks are going to miss is offensive lineman Tanner Hawkinson. On Saturday, Hawkinson is set to make his 47th straight start. This will set a new school record for Kansas.

Iowa State has lost the last two games vs Texas and Oklahoma. The team gave up 35 points to Oklahoma and 33 to Texas, so they will look to get back on the right track vs the Jayhawks here. The Cyclones sport a balanced offense led by senior quarterback Steele Jantz.

Kansas has developed one of the nation’s strongest rushing games led by James Sims and Tony Pierson. The duo rushed for 329 yards combined in their double-overtime loss to Texas Tech.

Next week, Kansas ends the season on the road vs Big 12 newcomer West Virginia.
