The No. 7 Kansas Jayhawks will play the Chattanooga Mocs in the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic. Chattanooga enters with a record of 1-0 after beating Tennessee Temple 88-53.
Kansas is one of four host schools for the Edward Jones CBE Hall of Fame Classic which includes: St. Louis, Texas A&M, and Washington State. Kansas won their first game of this classic against Southeast Missouri State 74-55.
Chattanooga is a member of the Southern Conference and finished last in the North division last season. They are located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Their overall record last season was 11-21.
So far this season, Chattanooga’s leading scorers have been Z. Mason and Drazen Zlovaric. Mason was a transfer to Chattanooga from Ole Miss football. In the team’s opener, Mason had 16 points and five rebounds. Zlovaric had 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
They also have a nice defensive performance from Farad Cobb. In the Tennessee Temple game, Cobb recorded six steals for the Mocs.
This will be the third meeting between the Jayhawks and the Mocs. Kansas currently leads the series 2-0.
Kansas last met the Mocs in 2003 and won 90-76. That game was the season opener for the Kansas Jayhawks in the 2003-2004 season. It was also Bill Self’s first game as Kansas’ head coach.
According to kuathletics.com, “Kansas is 10-1 against current membership of the Southern Conference.”
Overall, this should be another easy match-up for the Kansas Jayhawks. They should defeated the Mocs without a doubt. Expect Jeff Withey to perform like he did in the season opener. Also, more Jayhawks other than Withey should be able to get into rhythm in this game.
