There are too many great players coming into the 2012-2013 season in NCAA basketball.
Cody Zeller, C.J. Leslie, Keith Appling, Aaron Craft are a few who are on the Wooden watch list this year.
Last year’s winner was Anthony Davis. He went on to be the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and plays for the New Orleans Hornets.
Who will it be this year? Through the Phog takes a look at some of the best players in college basketball and make their prediction for NCAA’s Player of the Year.
George: My pick for player of the year is C.J. Leslie at North Carolina State. I know many people have Cody Zeller as the top player, though something will happen to prevent the big-man from getting the honor. Leslie at North Carolina State will gain the honor.
Ricky: Mason Plumlee is my pick for POY. Plumlee cam into this season as a senior instead of entering the NBA. He wanted to come back because he knew Duke is better than how they ended last season. Plumlee, with the help of Seth Curry, will get Duke to the Final Four. He will be driven to play great and will be honored with POY.
In the win over Kentucky this week, Plumlee scored 18 points and helped Duke pull off the “upset.”
Each week, the staff at Through the Phog will react on the previous games in Big 12 basketball and other news that happens in the conference. We are always welcoming of comments that you might have on the topics covered each week. Our current staff includes lead editor George Pike, along with staff writer, Ricky Widmer.
