Kansas Football: Breaking Down the Iowa State Defense

The Kansas Jayhawks and Iowa State Cyclones square off on Saturday evening around 5:00 pm. central time. Iowa State enters the game, 5-5 and Kansas is 1-9 overall. Both teams are looking at getting back on the right track after losses are piling up. Here is a look at the Cyclones defense.

The Iowa State defensive leader Jake Knott is out for the season after undergoing a shoulder surgery. The linebacker accumulated 79 total tackles in eight games. Without Knott, Iowa State has had to look for other leaders. AJ Klein is one of the guys looking to step up. He has 78 tackles on the season, one sack and one interception. Senior defensive back Durrell Givens is another big time player for the Cyclones on defense. He has a total of three interceptions on the year.

Overall, Iowa State gives up around 23 points per game, 34th in the nation. The last couple of weeks, this unit has been tested and gave up lots of points. They will look to get back on the right track vs Kansas.
