Football Roundtable: Where Does the Kansas Run Game Rank?

Despite their 1-9 overall record, the Jayhawks have a pretty good run game.

James Sims has led the charge with 875 rushing yards this season. He’s rushed for 100-yards in six consecutive games. Tony Pierson has also been good with 657 yards this year.

Kansas is currently ranked 21st in rushing yards per game with 213. They also are ranked 20th in the nation with a total of 2,131 rushing yards this season.

The Through the Phog staff discusses their thoughts about the Jayhawk run game and where it would rank in the nation.

George: Who would of thought that Kansas was going to be such a strong rushing team. It is the only way they can move the ball, by rushing. Yes, I feel they are one of the top 20 teams in the nation in rushing.

Ricky: When I saw that Kansas was ranked 21st on ESPN for rushing yards per game, I was at first shocked, but then I thought about it. The only reason people do not think of the ranking being high is because of Kansas’ record. However, James Sims has rushed for 100-yards in six straight games. They are a top 20 rushing attack despite their record.

Each week, the staff at Through the Phog will react on the previous day’s games in Big 12 football and other news that happens in the conference.
