Here is the Through the Phog Big 12 Power Rankings, a poll that accumulates our staff’s thoughts on the best through the worst in the conference. Teams in first place get 9 points, second place receive 8 points, and so on.
This poll follows this weekend of college football.
- Kansas State (10-0, 7-0) – 18 points (2) (LW: 1)
The Wildcats defeated the TCU Horned Frogs 23-10. Collin Klein got the start as KSU moved to #1 in the BCS.
- Oklahoma (7-2, 5-1) – 16 points (LW: 2)
With the win against Baylor, Oklahoma’s head coach Bob Stoops passed Bud Wilkinson on Oklahoma’s career victory list. Landry Jones also threw two touchdowns in the win.
- Texas (8-2, 5-2) – 14 points (LW: 3)
Texas beat the Iowa State Cyclones as the Longhorns honored Darrell Royal. They did so by putting “DKR” on their midfield logo and by running the wishbone formation to start the game.
- Oklahoma State (6-3, 4-2) – 12 points (LW: 4)
The Cowboys got a nice win against the West Virginia Mountaineers. Clint Chelf got his first start for Oklahoma State and threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns.
- Texas Tech (7-3, 4-3) – 10 points (LW: 6)
The Red Raiders got the win over the Jayhawks, but needed two overtimes to get it. They won on a pass from Eric Stephens out of the wildcat formation.
- TCU (6-4, 3-4) – 8 points (LW: 5)
TCU lost this week to the Kansas State Wildcats. They were scoreless through the first three quarters before scoring ten points in the fourth.
- West Virginia (5-4, 2-4) – 6 points (LW: 7)
The Mountaineers drop their fourth straight game this week. They lost to the Oklahoma State Cowboys 55-34. Geno Smith threw for 364 yards and two touchdowns.
- Iowa State (5-5, 2-5) – 3 points (LW: 8)
Iowa State could not stand in the way of David Ash and the Longhorns this week. This is the second week an opposing Big 12 quarterback has torched the Cyclones.
- Baylor (4-5, 1-5) – 2 points (LW: 9)
Baylor was not able to get their second conference win of the season against Oklahoma. The Baylor offense was limited to only 172 passing yards.
- Kansas (1-9, 0-7) – 1 points (LW: 10)
Kansas might not been able to get the win against Texas Tech, but they still fought very hard. The Jayhawks ran for 390 yards as a team and James Sims made it six consecutive games with at least 100-yards.
