After each weekend of Big 12 play we’ll look at how things turned out for the Big 12 conference.
This week, Texas completely had their way with Iowa State, Kansas State got past TCU, Texas Tech needed two overtimes to beat Kansas, West Virginia lost another Big 12 conference game, and Oklahoma got a home win against Baylor.

Saturday, November 10th
Iowa State (5-5, 2-5 Big 12) 7 @ 17 Texas (8-2, 5-2 Big 12) 33 – The Texas Longhorns honored the great Darrell Royal this past Saturday against ISU. Royal coached Texas to national championships in 1963 and 1969. He died this past week from his battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The Longhorns honored him by lining up in the offense formation he made famous, the wishbone. Texas also put “DKR” on their logo at midfield. Davis Ash had a big game for the Longhorns with 364 passing yards and two touchdowns.
2 Kansas State (10-0, 7-0 Big 12) 23 @ TCU (6-4, 3-4 Big 12) 10 – Many did not know if Collin Klein would play coming into this week’s game. Klein got the start for Kansas State and had a nice game. He threw for 145 yards and also ran for 50 yards. He scored twice on the ground. The Horned Frogs did not score until the fourth quarter as they trailed KSU 23-0 after three. The Wildcats moved to #1 in the BCS because of the Bama loss to Texas A&M.
Kansas (1-9, 0-7 Big 12) 34 @ 22 Texas Tech (7-3, 4-3 Big 12) 41 – The Kansas Jayhawks almost got their first Big 12 win of the season in a double overtime thriller against Texas Tech. The running game was huge as James Sims and Tony Pierson ran for a combined 390 yards. The passing game was going for the Red Raiders. Seth Doege threw for 476 yards and three touchdowns. However, Texas Tech won the game on a touchdown pass by Eric Stephens out of the wildcat formation in the second overtime period.
West Virginia (5-4, 2-4 Big 12) 34 @ Oklahoma State (6-3, 4-2 Big 12) 55 – After starting 2-0 in the Big 12, the West Virginia Mountaineers have now loss four straight conference games. Geno Smith had a good game against the Cowboys with 364 yards and two touchdowns. However, Clint Chelf had an near perfect game with 292 yards and four touchdowns in his first start of the season for Oklahoma State.
Baylor (4-5, 1-5 Big 12) 34 @ 12 Oklahoma (7-2, 5-1 Big 12) 42 – With this week’s win over Baylor, Bob Stoops passed Bud Wilkinson on Oklahoma’s career victory list. The Sooners got the win by stopping the Baylor passing attack. Nick Florence was held to 172 yards and no touchdowns. On offense, Landry Jones threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns while Damien Williams ran for 99 yards and two scores.
