On Tuesday, December 18th the Kansas Jayhawks hosts the Richmond Spiders. The Spiders finished 16-16 last year, including 7-9 in Atlantic 10 conference play. The Spiders tied Duquesne for ninth place in the conference.
Richmond begins the season vs Liberty on November 9th. The game against Kansas, will be the Spiders 12th game of the season. The team ran a three guard offense last season with Darien Brothers, Kendall Anthony, and Cedrick Lindsay. Senior guard Brothers returns to lead the team. Brothers averaged 15 points and three rebounds per game last season. Brothers finished last season on a tear, scoring 30 points in the teams final regular season game against Dayton, and 31 points in the teams conference tournament game vs La Salle.
Guard Anthony contributed with 13 points per game as a freshman. Bigger things are expected of this 5-8 guard now as a sophomore. Lindsay averaged 11 points, three rebounds and four assists per game. The Spiders lost senior forward-center Darrius Garrett to graduation, but forward Derrick Williams returns. Williams averaged 11 points and six rebounds per game.
Last season was a bit of a struggle for Richmond. The team hopes a return to the NCAA tournament will occur this season.
