Tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. central time, Kansas at 1-7 will look to end a seven-game slide vs Baylor in Waco, Texas. The Bears have a record of 3-4, though are also winless in conference play. The game will be on Fox Sports Net.
Baylor leads the all-time series between the two teams at 7-4, including the last two games in the series. Last season’s game went to overtime with Baylor winning 31-30. The Jayhawks last win over Baylor was in 2007, as they defeated the Bears 58-10.
The Kansas running game has come up huge for the team this season, with James Sims and Tony Pierson leading the way for the offense. Sims is averaging 124 yards per game since returning from suspension. He sat out the first three games of the season. Pierson’s role in the offense diminished once Sims returned, only to once again get more carries last week vs Texas. Pierson rushed 12 times for 51 yards in the Jayhawks loss.
Kansas’s red zone defense ranks 13th in the nation, as they have allowed just 20 touchdowns and five field goals in 36 trips this season. The defense ranks number one in the Big 12 for this category.
Baylor has the nation’s number one passing offense led by senior quarterback Nick Florence. The Bears are averaging 395 passing yards per game, and 173 yards on the ground. The team averages 44 points per game.
