Football Roundtable: Bad Game For Cummings or Good Game for the Run?

The Kansas Jayhawks only had 39 passing yards in the game against the Texas Longhorns.

The run game was so strong for the Jayhawks that they did not even throw a single pass in the second or third quarters. Michael Cummings only had three completions out of the nine total passes thrown in the game.

Overall, was this a “bad” game for Michael Cummings or just a really good game for the Kansas run game?

George: The Jayhawks are seeing that James Sims and Tony Pierson are the ones who can get them a win. Cummings has talent, but he needs more seasoning. I like his ability and versatility but he needs more time.

Ricky: Yes, Michael Cummings only had 39 passing yards in the game against Texas. However, that does not mean he had a bad game. In my opinion, Kansas was just riding the hot hand which was the run game. All season, we have said Kansas needs to run the ball to be successful. The Texas game was proof of that. If it wasn’t for a great drive by Case McCoy, Kansas would have gotten the win.
