After each weekend of Big 12 play we’ll look at how things turned out for the Big 12 conference.
This week, Oklahoma lost to undefeated Notre Dame, TCU fell to a good Oklahoma State team, Kansas let Texas sneak away with a win, Kansas State avoided an upset against Texas Tech, and Baylor remained win less in the Big 12 after losing to Iowa State.

Saturday, October 27th
5 Notre Dame (8-0, 3-0 away) 30 @ 8 Oklahoma (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) 13 – In the game of the week, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish pulled off the victory against the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman. Oklahoma and Notre Dame both took very good care of the ball throughout the entire game. However, the only turnover of the entire game came in the fourth quarter as one of Landry Jones’ passes was tipped and brought in by Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o. Because of the victory, Notre Dame moved from #5 to #3 in the BCS Rankings and leaped Oregon in the process.
TCU (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) 14 @ Oklahoma State (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) 36 – Wes Lunt got the start for the Oklahoma State Cowboys since suffering a knee injury on September 15th. Lunt threw for 324 yards and a touchdown. TCU jumped out to an early 14-0 lead over the Horned Frogs. However, the Cowboys scored 36 unanswered points to win the game. TCU is now 1-3 since Casey Pachall was suspended.
23 Texas (6-2, 3-2 Big 12) 21 @ Kansas (1-7, 0-5 Big 12) 17 – The Kansas Jayhawks almost beat the Texas Longhorns in a game that many believed Texas would run away with. The rushing attack ruled the day for the Jayhawks as they ran for 234 yards. James Sims led the charge with 176 yards on 28 carries. Michael Cummings only threw the ball nine times in the entire game. Kansas had a 17-14 lead with 2:28 left in the game, but Texas scored on their last drive. David Ash was pulled from the game and Case McCoy led the Longhorns down the field and scored with seconds left in the game.
14 Texas Texas (6-2, 3-2 Big 12) 24 @ 3 Kansas State (8-0, 5-0 Big 12) 55 – The Kansas State Wildcats got one of their biggest wins against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The first half of the game was hard fought as KSU only led 13-10 at halftime. Then, the Wildcats outscored the Red Raiders 42-14 in the second half. Collin Klein threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns. For Texas Tech, Seth Doege threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns.
Baylor (3-4, 0-4 Big 12) 21 @ Iowa State (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) 35 – The Baylor Bears stayed win less in Big 12 conference play after their loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. Steele Jantz set career highs with 381 passing yards and five touchdowns for the Cyclones. The Baylor defense was ranked last in the nation with 44 points allowed per game. The Cyclones will see Oklahoma next week.
