This week the Kansas Jayhawks will play the Texas Longhorns. Kansas is coming off a loss to Oklahoma while Texas is coming off a win against Baylor.
The Longhorns have many weapons on both offense and defense that the Jayhawks will need to watch out for. They have a running back that scored five touchdowns against Baylor, a quarterback with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 4:1, and a defense that can stop an opposing team when push comes to shove.
Through the Phog asks the question, Who is the most dangerous Texas player?
George: Texas is very balanced on offense. Ash has been great but so has running back Joe Bergeron who has 14 touchdowns on the season. Slowing the running game again, and throwing blitzes at Ash could help slow down the Longhorn attack.
Ricky: Joe Bergeron is a very good player for the Texas Longhorns. Last week against Baylor, he ran for 117 yards and five touchdowns. However, he will not be the one to hurt the Jayhawks on Saturday. I say that because Kansas has been able to slow down the run on defense (I.E. Oklahoma State game).
That’s why Mike Davis will be the player to watch. Davis has 500 receiving yards and four touchdowns on the year. If David Ash and Mike Davis can get on the same page earlier, it will be a LONG day for the Kansas Jayhawks.
Each week, the staff at Through the Phog will react on the previous day’s games in Big 12 football and other news that happens in the conference. We are always welcoming of comments that you might have on the topics covered each week. Our current staff includes lead editor George Pike, along with staff writer, Ricky Widmer.
