Kansas Football: Breaking Down the Longhorns Defense

Kansas and Texas clash on Saturday, per the Jayhawks annual homecoming game. The game is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in Lawrence. Here is a look at the Longhorns defense.

The Longhorns defense is giving up 35 points per game, 105th nationally. The unit has had their share of problems the past three weeks. First on Oct. 6th, West Virginia totaled 48 points against Texas in a loss. Then on Oct. 13th, Texas gave up 63 points to Oklahoma, in a 63-21 loss. Last week, Texas gave up 50 points to Baylor yet managed to win thanks to a great offensive performance.

Steve Edmond leads the defense in tackles with 55 on the year. Kenny Vaccaro has a total of 53 tackles on the year. Alex Okafor leads the team in sacks with a total of seven. Jacks Jeffcoats has made eight tackles for loss. So the athletes are there, but this unit gives up lots of yards. Baylor racked up a total of 607 yards, including 352 passing yards and 255 on the ground.
