The run game has easily been the strongest part of the Kansas offense this season. Compared to a passing game that is between two quarterbacks, the run game has always been led by the trio of James Sims, Tony Pierson, and Taylor Cox.
Sims has led the team in rushing this season with 446 yards on 101 carries and five touchdowns. He also has rushed for 100 yards in the last three games for the Jayhawks. However, Pierson has 386 yards with two touchdowns and Cox has 336 yards with two touchdowns.
Despite the lack of winning this season, how would you rate Sims and KU’s rushing attack this season?
George: The running game has been the big vocal part of the Jayhawks offense. Without the trio of strong running backs, Kansas’s offense would have been terrible. Sims has been huge, and a very consistent player after returning from suspension.
Ricky: A Diamond in the ruff, that is the Kansas rushing attack. James Sims since coming back from injury this season has been a nice spot in an otherwise “shaky” KU offense. He has rushing for 100 yards in three straight games now. Sims, Pierson, Cox are all doing a wonderful job. If only the passing game could start clicking, maybe Kansas could win a few games down the stretch.
