Kansas Football: High Scoring Texas Offense Previewed

The Kansas Jayhawks as part of homecoming this year host Texas on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. central time. Texas is 5-2 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 conference play this season. The Longhorns are coming off a 56-50 victory over Baylor last week. Here is a look at the Longhorns offense.

Texas is ranked sixth in the country for points scored, averaging 44 points per game. The team averages 261 passing yards and 196 rushing yards per game.

Through the air, quarterback David Ash is one of the best in the conference. The sophomore has 12 touchdowns and three interceptions on the season. Ash has thrown for 1,663 yards and been sacked just six times. Texas is made balanced by a strong rushing attack, headed by sophomore Joe Bergeron. He has 418 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the season. Freshman running back Jonathan Gray has added 316 yards and a touchdown.

Texas has a talented tandem of receivers in Mike Davis and Jaxon Shipley. Davis has 30 receptions for 500 yards and four touchdowns, while Shipley has added 24  catches and 268 yards.

Last week the Longhorn offense had 524 total yards, including 274 from Ash. Bergeron rushed 19 times for 117 yards. The group is very electric and can score any time.
