Kansas and Oklahoma Game Notes

The Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma Sooners face off tomorrow in Norman at 6:00 p.m. central time. The game will be shown on FSN. Oklahoma is 4-1 on the season, and 2-1 in conference. The Sooners only loss came to fourth-ranked Kansas State. Kansas is 1-5 on the year, losers of five straight after winning against South Dakota State.

Kansas trails Oklahoma, 69-27-6, in the all-time series between the two schools. Oklahoma have takenthe last seven games in the series, including a 47-17 win over Kansas last year. Kansas’ last win over the Sooners came in 1997 with a 20-17 win.

The Jayhawks are the sixth least penalized team in the nation, only averaging four penalties per game for 33 yards.

Kansas running back James Sims has been on a roll since returning from a suspension. The junior back has averaged 115 yards per game since coming back to action three weeks ago. Fellow running backs Tony Pierson and Taylor Cox are ready and waiting whenever needed.

The defense for Kansas is improving with each week under former NFL defensive coordinator Dave Campo. The defense held Oklahoma State, to 371 yards in the teams loss last week. Oklahoma State, came into the game averaging 651 yards per game, and a ranking of the top unit in the country.
