Everyone loves talking about the biggest stories of the week, but the best part about football is when people get to brag about their football predictions.
The staff at Through the Phog has decided to tackle the entire Big 12 conference all season long, taking a look at each game with some quick thoughts. We welcome anyone else’s take on the week and give your predictions below, or call out some games we may take for granted.
This week, George gained a game on Ricky after the beat down by the Oklahoma Sooners. Ricky though Texas was going to win and now he is two games behind George going into Week Eight of the season.
Here are the standings:
- George – 25-9
- Ricky – 23-11
(All times are Eastern Standard Time)
12:00 p.m. – (24) Iowa State @ Oklahoma State – TV: FX
George: OSU | Ricky: ISU
Ricky: Iowa State has upset TCU this season and also upset KSU last week. OSU showed in the game against Kansas that if Randle is stopped then the Cowboys are beatable. Randle is strong, but the Cyclones can finish an upset on the road.
3:30 p.m. – (17) Texas Tech @ (23) TCU – TV: ABC/ESPN2
George: TTU | Ricky: TTU
George: Texas Tech and TCU will battle it out in a close encounter. TCU proved last week they can win without Casey Pachall, though the Red Raiders pull this out.
7:00 p.m. - (4) Kansas State @ (13) West Virginia – TV: FOX
George: WVU | Ricky: KSU
Ricky: Texas Tech showed the nation a formula for limiting Geno Smith. They used a nice mix of zones and man coverage to create problems for Smith all of last week. The KSU defense can do just what Texas Tech did except they can intercept the ball. All I can say is…THUNDERCATS! HO! (Look at the KSU logo and the Thundercats logo and tell me they do not look similar.)
7:00 p.m. – Kansas @ (9) Oklahoma – TV: FSN
George: OU | Ricky: OU
George: Oklahoma defeats Kansas, pulling away in the second half. Kansas if Michael Cummings doesn’t start, make the move earlier from Crist to the freshman at quarterback.
8:00 p.m. – Baylor @ (25) Texas – TV: ABC/ESPN3
George: Texas | Ricky: Texas
Ricky: This should be a “easy” bounce back win for the Longhorns. Baylor looked good early in the season, but I question them now after last week’s performance against TCU.
