Kansas Non-Conference Basketball Preview: Tennessee-Chattanooga

On Thursday, November 15th the Kansas Jayhawks host Tennessee-Chattanooga on the basketball court. Chattanooga hails from the Southern Conference, north side. The team finished 11-21 overall last year, and 5-13 in conference play.

Senior Drazen Zlovaric returns for his senior season as a strong leader for the Moccasins. Zlovaric averaged 10 points and six rebounds last season for Chattanooga. Senior guard Dontay Hampton also returns for the team. Hampton played in all games last season as junior, averaging seven points per contest. Hampton has the potential to step up and become an every game starter. The team also has another strong reserve returning in Ronrico White. The sophomore averaged five points per game last year in 14 minutes per contest.

There is a strong lack of returning depth on the guards side of things. Freshman will play a huge role in the team’s success this season, especially on the wing. Alex Bran, Farab Cobb, Casey Jones, Gee Mcghee, and Eric Robertson all have a chance to gain minutes for the Moccs this season.

In the future, please refer to the Mocs merely as Chattanooga, or should we call you the University of Kansas at Lawrence or Kansas-Lawrence? Thanks!
