Back to Back Losses for Kansas Soccer Team

The Kansas Jayhawks women’s soccer team lost to division rival Oklahoma on Friday, 1-0. The team took the field once again today, only to falter to Texas, again by the score of 1-0.

The two straight losses marked the first time this season for Kansas to lose twice in a row. Kansas has a record of 8-6-2 overall, and 2-4 in the conference.

In the Oklahoma game on Friday, the Jayhawk offense mustered up 14 shots, including three on the goal. The Sooners finished with 11 shots, and three on goal. Oklahoma forward Renae Cuellar scored the only goal of the match in the 22nd minute of regulation. Cuellar is second in the league in scoring.

On Sunday, the Jayhawks offense totaled just nine shots for the match, including three on goal.  Senior Carolina Kastor got all three shots on the Longhorn’s goal. The Longhorns got on the scoring board in the 34th minute as Brooke Gilbert scored following a corner kick. In the second half, the Jayhawks offense began waking up, though it was too late, and Longhorns goalie Abby Smith proved too stout in the net.

Kansas hosts two matches next Friday and Sunday, with Iowa State making the trip on Friday, and Texas Tech on Sunday.
