Big 12 Football Picks: Week Seven

Oct 06, 2012; Lubbock, TX, USA; A general view of Jones AT

Everyone loves talking about the biggest stories of the week, but the best part about football is when people get to brag about their football predictions.

The staff at Through the Phog has decided to tackle the entire Big 12 conference all season long, taking a look at each game with some quick thoughts. We welcome anyone else’s take on the week and give your predictions below, or call out some games we may take for granted.

This week was a wash between George and Ricky. George got the Texas/WVU game wrong, but Ricky went with Texas Tech and it hurt him in the standings.

Here are the standings:

  1. George – 22-7
  2. Ricky – 21-8

Saturday

(All times are Eastern Standard Time)

12:00 p.m. – (6) Kansas State @ Iowa State – TV: FX

George: KSU | Ricky: KSU

George: Collin Klein continues to be mentioned as a serious player for the Heisman trophy, as the Wildcats continue to win. Iowa State falters after their big win last week.

12:00 p.m. – (15) Texas @ (13) Oklahoma – TV: ABC

George: OU | Ricky: Texas

George: The Sooners ride quarterback Landry Jones hot arm en route to the victory in this years installment of the Red River rivalry.

3:30 p.m. – Oklahoma State @ Kansas – TV: FSN

George: OSU | Ricky: OSU

George: Whom ever the Cowboys throw out there at quarterback it doesn’t matter as they defeat Kansas here. The Jayhawks can slow the game down with an effective running game which would give them a shot here.

3:30 p.m. – (5) West Virginia @ Texas Tech – TV: ABC/ESPN

George: WVU | Ricky: WVU

Ricky: West Virginia should have no problem with the Red Raiders in this game. Geno Smith will throw AT LEAST four touchdowns as the Mountaineers cruise to 6-0.

7:00 p.m. – TCU @ Baylor – TV: FSN

George: Baylor | Ricky: Baylor

Ricky: This starts the rocky road ahead of the Horned Frogs the rest of this season. Former starting quarterback Casey Pachall will not start for the rest of the season and is even looking to transfer to a different school. TCU just went from the Upper-Big 12 to the Bottom of the Big 12 (no lower than Kansas though).
