Kastor Forces Tie in 73rd Minute for Kansas


The Kansas Jayhawks and Wake Forest Demon Deacons dueled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon. The 12th-ranked Demon Deacons are now 10-3-2, while Kansas moved to 8-4-2 on the season.

Wake Forest kicked off the scoring at the 16th-minute of the contest with a penalty shot made by Katie Stengel. The Demon Deacon player collided with Kansas goalie Kaitlyn Stroud, and was given the penalty shot, which she calmly knocked in.  Kat Liebertau took over the goaltending duties for Stroud in the second half.

Kansas forward Carolina Kastor scored her team leading ninth goal of the season in the 73rd-minute forcing two overtimes. Kansas had control of the ball throughout the two overtime’s yet failed to drive home the winning goal.

Liebertau made three saves, while Wake Forest goalie Aubrey Bledsoe stopped two shots. Wake Forest out-shot Kansas, 16-12 for the game, including four to three on goal.

Kansas travels to face Texas and Oklahoma next weekend. First off, the Jayhawks face Texas on Friday afternoon, before heading to Norman and another road meeting this time with Oklahoma.
