Kansas wins on Kastor’s Goal over TCU

The Kansas Jayhawks improved to 8-3-1 and 2-1 in Big 12 conference play after defeating TCU, 3-2 in overtime on Sunday. The Horned Frogs fell to 5-6-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Kansas junior Caroline Kastor scored the game winning goal in the 104th-minute on a breakaway. Kansas opened up with a 2-0 lead in the early going of the match, only to spot TCU two goals in the final eight minutes of play. Jamie Fletcher and Ashley Williams scored the Jayhawks first two goals. TCU cut into the lead in the 83rd minute of regulation before Serena Smith-Banas knotted the game up in the final seconds of regular time. Carley Bowen assisted on both goals.

Kansas had 19 shots with nine of these coming on goal. TCU countered with 11 shots and five on goal.

The victory over TCU got Kansas back on the right track after a stifling performance from Baylor on Friday night kept Kansas scoreless. Baylor defeated the Jayhawks, 1-0. The Jayhawks welcome another Big-12 conference newcomer next Friday as West Virginia comes to Lawrence for a meeting.
