The Baylor Bears defeated Kansas, 1-0 in Waco, Texas on Friday night. Baylor won the game in the 86th minute of the Big 12 soccer match with a goal from midfielder Lisa Sliwinski.
Baylor dominated the game throughout. The Bears out-shot Kansas 23-7, with seven shots on goal to the Jayhawks three. The victory moves Baylor to 10-1-2 while dropping the 23rd-ranked Jayhawks to a 7-3-1 mark.
Kansas midfielder Whitney Berry had two shots on goal, while backup Ashley Williams posted the other. Baylor was in control most of the game, yet couldn’t find the net until near the end of the game. Backup Jordan Hatler led the way with three shots on goal. Dana Larsen, Karlee Sumney and Sliwinski each added two shots on goal.
Kansas goalie Kaitlyn Stroud kept the visitors close with four saves, though Kansas failed to mount much offense in the defeat. The Jayhawks return to action on Sunday as they visit Fort Worth, Texas for a meeting with Big-12 conference newcomer TCU. The Horned Frogs currently are 5-4-1. The meeting on Sunday will be the teams first meeting ever.
