Here is the Through the Phog Big 12 Power Rankings, a poll that accumulates our staff’s thoughts on the best through the worst in the conference. Teams in first place get 9 points, second place receive 8 points, and so on.
This poll follows this weekend of college football.
- Kansas State (4-0, 1-0) – 18 points
The Wildcats jumped up to the #1 spot after defeating the Oklahoma Sooners on the road in a huge Big 12 Conference game.
- West Virginia (3-0) – 16 points
Geno Smith and Tavon Austin helped the Mountaineers defeat the Terps as they teamed up for three touchdowns.
- Texas (3-0) – 13 points
Texas had a bye week and will play Oklahoma State next week in their first Big 12 Conference game.
- Oklahoma (2-1, 0-1) – 12 points
The Sooners fell after they lost to Kansas State this week. George had them ranked at #5 while Ricky had them at #3.
- TCU (3-0, 1-0) – 11 points
Brandon Carter had a big game for the Horned Frogs. He had 128 yards on five receptions with one touchdown in the win over Virginia.
- Baylor (3-0) – 8 points
Baylor avoided a fall in the rankings by just edging past Louisana-Monroe. The Bears almost became the next Arkansas Razorbacks.
- Iowa State (3-0) – 6 points
The Cyclones had a bye week and will play Texas Tech next week in their first Big 12 Conference game.
- Texas Tech (3-0) – 3 points
Texas Tech had a bye week and will play Iowa State next week in their first Big 12 Conference game.
- Oklahoma State (3-1, 0-1) – 3 points
The Cowboys had a bye week and will play Texas next week in their first Big 12 Conference game.
- Kansas (1-3, 0-1) – 0 points
The Jayahwks stay dead last in the Big 12 for the fourth straight week. Kansas lost to Northern Illinois on the road and will have a bye next week.
