Everyone loves talking about the biggest stories of the week, but the best part about football is when people get to brag about their football predictions.
The staff at Through the Phog has decided to tackle the entire Big 12 conference all season long, taking a look at each game with some quick thoughts. We welcome anyone else’s take on the week and give your predictions below, or call out some games we may take for granted.
This week, George Pike took the lead over Ricky Widmer. This was mainly because Ricky made a bold prediction saying that Ole Miss was going to up end Texas.
George is only a game up on Ricky with a record of 13-3. Here are the standings:
- George – 13-3
- Ricky – 12-4
This week the guys differ on a few games with one behind the Game of the Week featuring Kansas State and Oklahoma.
Friday
(All times are Eastern Standard Time)
8:00 p.m. – Baylor @ Louisianna-Monroe – TV: ESPN
George: Baylor | Ricky: Baylor
George: The game will be close as Louisiana Monroe has shown the ability to keep pace with good teams.
Saturday
(All times are Eastern Standard Time)
12:00 p.m. – Maryland @ (8) West Virginia – TV: FX
George: WVU | Ricky: WVU
Ricky: The Mountaineers will be as high-flying as ever behind Geno Smith. Smith will continue to prove why his name should be in the Heisman Trophy Race for the rest of the year.
12:00 p.m. – Virginia @ (17) TCU – TV: ESPN
George: TCU | Ricky: TCU
Ricky: The Horned Frogs should win this week, but they will need to take better care of the football. If they let Virginia force four turnovers like Kansas did last week, then TCU could be upset.
3:30 p.m. – Kansas @ Northern Illinois – TV: ESPN3
George: NIU | Ricky: KU
George: The Huskies will get the job done with a steady dose of the running game.
7:50 p.m. – (15) Kansas State @ (6) Oklahoma – TV: FOX
George: OU | Ricky: KSU
George: This might be the best game of the week, Oklahoma will outscore Colin Klein and Kansas State. The Wildcats won’t go down easy though and this game can go either way. Landry Jones does just enough.
