Kansas football: A look at Northern Illinois Offense

The Northern Illinois Huskies host the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. central time. The game is scheduled to be played on ESPN 3. Here is a look at the Huskies offensive arsenal.

The offense begins and ends with quarterback Jordan Lynch. He makes the team go with both his legs and arm. Lynch has thrown for 610 yards and five touchdowns, along with leading the team in rushing yards at 304 yards. In last week’s game vs Army, Lynch threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns and one interception. He added 125 yards on the ground with three touchdowns. Even vs the Iowa Hawkeyes in the season opener Lynch ran wild, totaling 119 rushing yards and a touchdown of 73 yards.

Lynch isn’t the only cog making the Huskies go, as starting running back Leighton Settle is a threat to break it open at any time. Settle has rushed for 158 yards on the season with 36 carries through three games.

Lynch’s top target through the air is Martel Moore. This senior wide receiver has 15 receptions for 229 yards and three touchdowns so far this year. Last week vs Army, Moore made seven receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Fellow wide receiver Tommylee Lewis has made seven catches for 133 yards and a touchdown.
