Staff Roundtable: What Will Kansas Need To Improve On This Week?

This week, we are loaded with four big Week 3 questions: will Kansas need their rushing game to be consistently strong if they want to win games, what do the Jayhawks need to improve this week before they play Northern Illinois, will the Horned Frogs be a contender in the Big 12 this season, and can Kansas State beat Oklahoma this week.

Second, Through the Phog discusses what the Kansas Jayhawks will need to work on this week to prepare for their Week 4 game against Northern Illinois.

What is the biggest thing Kansas needs to work this week to get ready for Northern Illinois?

George: Kansas needs to work more on ways to help Crist out. With an improved rushing game in place, they could of beaten TCU, instead they went to a passing offense, knocking the rushing game out of contention. Kansas can have success this year, with better rushing game. Crist can’t do it all.

Ricky: The most important thing the Jayhawks will need to work on is helping their defense out. The main problem I had with Kansas last week was how much time the defense spent on the field. Like I mentioned in the first roundtable this week, there was a play where Crist threw an interception right after the Kansas defense forced a fumble. The is demoralizing to the defense and the offense will need to back up the defense in Week 4.

Each week, the staff at Through the Phog will react on the previous day’s games in Big 12 football and other news that happens in the conference. We are always welcoming of comments that you might have on the topics covered each week. Our current staff includes lead editor George Pike, along with staff writer, Ricky Widmer.
