Kansas Baseball Team to Make Dominican Republic Trip

The Kansas men’s baseball team will make a seven-day tour of the Dominican Republic, this December. The trip is from Dec. 15th to Dec. 22nd. Kansas will play vs Kansas City Dominican Royals and two other amateur teams.

During their time overseas, the team will train in Royals academy in Boca Chica, and play in five games. The team plans to assist in constructing a batting cage, along with other community service projects. Along with this, Kansas plans on providing baseball skills clinics, and to donate baseball equipment to various local youth organizations.

Kansas head coach Ritch Price has a plethora of talent at his disposal, though can the Jayhawks improve upon last season’s record of 25-30, is anybody’s guess. Key pitcher Frank Duncan returns for his junior season. Duncan was named Big 12 all-second team last season as he posted a 6-8 record. He was named Big 12 conference pitcher of the week a couple of times. Tucker Tharp also returns to pace the offensive side of things. Tharp, last season batted .265 as he made 50 starts and played all three outfield positions. Tharp was named All-Big 12 honorable mention after the season concluded.
