The 9th-ranked prospect for the class of 2013, Anthony “Cat” Barber signed with NC State on Saturday. Barber, originally had Kansas and Alabama as his favorites, though this all changed this past week, when he added NC State and Louisville to his list.
Barber, is rated as the third-ranked point guard of the class, home-state is Virginia. The drive from his home-town to NC State is only three hours, as compared to a 16 hours trip to Lawrence, Kansas.
The point guards stock rose during the spring and summer with terrific performances throughout camps in the area. Barber has an incredible talent of taking his defender off the dribble en route to the hoop. He can get into the lane whenever he chooses. Barber is also very aggressive on defensively, pestering opponents into turnovers.
With the addition of Barber, NC State is set at the point guard position for years. The current starting point guard is Lorenzo Brown, who was an All-ACC performer last season. Freshman Tyler Lewis and Rodney Purvis are also cleared to play next season.
Kansas awaits decisions to be made soon by Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon, and Julius Randle, all key possible recruits they are aggressively pursuing.
