Kansas Six-Game Winning Streak Ends

The University of Denver has knocked off Kansas, 1-0 to extend their winning streak to seven games, while ending Kansas’s. The win improves Denver to 6-1, while dropping Kansas to 6-1-2.

Denver striker Katy Van Lieshout scored the only goal at the 18-minute mark to lift Denver to the win. The Boone’s were outshot 16-8 including five to three shots on goal by Kansas. Denver senior goalie Lara Campbell pitched the shutout, stopping Jayhawks shots all around, including a flurry of shots at the end of the game.

With the win, Denver proves their worth, while Kansas is left wondering as Big 12 play begins next week. Kansas’s first opponent on the docket is the Cowboys of Oklahoma State. The Cowboys are currently ranked third in the nation. Along with Oklahoma State, and Kansas at the top of the Big 12 standings is Baylor. The Lady Bears are 6-1-1 on the season. Texas Tech is right behind in the standings heading into conference play at 5-2.

Sept. 14-2012; The Kansas Jayhawks women’s soccer team fell to Denver 1-0 on Friday afternoon ending their winning streak at six games, while extending Denver’s to streak now to six.

Next up for the Kansas women’s soccer team is Oklahoma State next Friday at 5:00 p.m. central time.
