Staff Roundtable: How Will Texas A&M and Mizzou Fair in the SEC?

This week, we are loaded with four big Week 2 questions: should Kansas be concerned with Dayne Crist, would you want Geno Smith or Colin Klein as your starting quarterback, what can Kansas expect from TCU in Week 3, and how will Texas A&M and Missouri fair in the SEC this season.

Lastly, Through the Phog discusses how the Texas A&M Aggies and the Missouri Tigers will fair as a part of the SEC this year. Both the Aggies and the Tigers lost in their conference opener last Saturday. Texas A&M lost to Florida and Mizzou lost to Georgia.

Will Texas A&M and Missouri do well in the SEC this season?

George: Both, Missouri and Texas A& M are going to be okay, though they both lost key players from last season’s teams meaning this year will likely be rebuilding seasons. Still think both can reach six wins, but they won’t be too successful this year.

Ricky: In my opinion, both the Aggies and the Tigers will not do too well in their first season as a part of the SEC. This was shown in the first conference game of the season for both teams. Texas A&M will most likely do better than Mizzou because of their schedule. The only ranked opponents Texas A&M will play are Alabama and LSU while Mizzou will play South Carolina, Alabama, Florida (which Texas A&M already played), and Tennessee.

Each week, the staff at Through the Phog will react on the previous day’s games in Big 12 football and other news that happens in the conference. We are always welcoming of comments that you might have on the topics covered each week. Our current staff includes lead editor George Pike, along with staff writer, Ricky Widmer.
