Kansas forward Caroline Kastor was named Big 12 offensive player of the week after a four-goal effort over the weekend vs NC State and Missouri State.
Kansas won both games to continue their six-game winning streak, and improve the overall record to 6-1-1. Kastor added an assist in addition to the goals, increasing her conference leading points total to 16.
Kastor joins teammate Ashley Williams as the only other conference player of the week this year. Williams has won the honor the last three weeks. Williams on the season has six goals and two assists, while Kastor has seven goals and two assists. Both players are a huge reason why Kansas has cruised on this early season run.
The Jayhawks face Denver on Friday at the Allen Sports Complex before beginning Big 12 conference play vs Oklahoma State next week. The Cowboys are currently third-ranked in the country. Oklahoma State and Kansas aren’t the only conference members enjoying early season success. Baylor has a 6-1-1 record, Texas Tech has a 5-2 mark and Iowa State has a 5-3 record. Oklahoma has a 4-3-1 record, and TCU is at 3-3-1. West Virginia and Texas round out the conference standings thus far on the year.
