The Kansas women’s soccer team defeated Missouri State, 4-1 to keep their winning streak alive. Kansas will face NC State in Lawrence on Sunday.
Caroline Kastor scored two goals, plus an assist as Kansas dominated Missouri State. Freshman Ashley Williams knocked in her sixth goal of the year, as Kansas improved to 5-1-1.
Kansas outshot Missouri State, 17-5 including an 8-1 advantage on the goal. Kastor led all players with six shots, including three on goal.
Jamie Fletcher began the scoring barrage with a goal at the seven minute mark of the first half. This was Fletcher’s second of the season. Kastor then scored her first goal at the 12-minute mark, giving Kansas a 2-0 lead which they took into the second half.
Kastor scored her second goal of the game, three minutes into the start of the second half. Whitney Berry picked up her third assist of the season on the goal. Missouri State finally got on the scoreboard one minute later with a goal from Michelle Sommer.
Gametime for Sunday remains at 1:00 p.m. as the Wolfpack and Kansas face off for the first time ever in soccer. NC State won 3-1 over Appalachian State on Friday, pushing their winning streak to five games, matching Kansas’s. Jennie Krauser led NC State with two goals on Friday night.
