Kansas Football: Kansas and Rice Notes

The Kansas Jayhawks and Rice Owls are set to face off tomorrow around 2:30 central time in Lawrence, Kansas. The game will be televised on FSN.

Rice is coming off a 49-24 loss to UCLA last week at home. Their were some bright spots for the Owls, most notably linebacker and special teams player Cameron Nwosu’s play. Nwosu was named Conference USA special teams player of the week after blocking three of UCLA’s extra points. The Owls had a 4-8 record last year, though have some talent on the roster and hope to improve this season. Quarterback Taylor McHargue is a dual threat at the position, leading the team in both passing and rushing yards vs UCLA. He rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Kansas comes in with a 1-0 mark after defeating South Dakota State last week, 31-17. Running backs Tony Pierson and Taylor Cox each topped the 100-yard mark in the win. Quarterback Dayne Crist endured some struggles, yet hopes to put it all together this weekend vs the Owls. Safety Bradley McDougald made two interceptions in the game for the Jayhawks.

Kansas has five players from the Houston area, where Rice is located at. Kebo Agostinho, Greg Allen, Ron Doherty, Tyree Williams and Darius Willis all have ties to the area.
