Former Jayhawks in the MLB

Here is another look at former Kansas Jayhawks currently playing in the MLB.

Tom Gorzelanny: Gorzelanny for the season has a record of 3-2 and a era of 3.20. He has appeared in 37 Washington Nationals games as a reliever. Gorzelanny’s latest appearance came on Thursday of the past week when he pitched two innings vs Atlanta and struck out three Braves batters. Gorzelanny and the Washington Nationals are enjoying a great season.

Mike Zagurski: This former Kansas pitcher has appeared in 31 innings for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Zagurski has an era of 5.85 and has given up 29 runs. Zagurski pitched last night for the Diamondbacks, throwing the ball for one and a third innings. He gave up one earned run in a Diamondbacks 9-3 loss to San Diego. Zagurski was initially drafted by Philadelphia in 2005.

Triple A- Players:

Sam Freeman: Another former Jayhawks pitcher, Freeman made a couple of appearances for the Cincinnati Reds this year, but has since gone back down to the minor leagues. Freeman last pitched on August 14th. He should return to the MLB’s soon as more seasoning comes for this young pitcher.
