Kansas Football: Carnes Suspended for 3 Games

Kansas head coach Charlie Weis, suspended long snapper Justin Carnes on Saturday for violating team rules. No specific details were made on the violation.

The junior was listed as the starter for the Jayhawks at the position. He played in 10 games last season working with the PAT’s and field goals team. Carnes redshirted as a freshman, then played in all 12 games as a sophomore, before last season. He hasn’t recorded any stats.

Camp news:

Freshman Tre’ Parmalee is making quite a name for himself as a playmaker, and someone who should get some playing time. The wide receiver spot for Kansas is stacked with Kale Pick, DJ Beshears, and Daymond Patterson as the top three on the depth chart, but Parmalee is showing he deserves time. Parmalee is making Weis think twice about redshirting him this season. The wide receiver has also caught the eye of Beshears who loves how intelligent Parmalee is. With Parmalee’s emergence, the Jayhawks are looking at moving wide receiver JaCorey Shepard to the defensive side of things. The sophomore has been working with the defensive backs the last couple of practices.
