Recruiting: Karviar Shepard trims list down

Karviar Shepard, a 6-10 center from Texas has cut his list down to eight teams. This list includes: Kansas, Texas, TCU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, SMU, Marquette, and LSU.

The four-star center visited with Kansas last season and is ranked as the 34th top prospect in Rivals.com and the fifth center in the 2013 class. Shepard is also ranked 45th for Scout and ESPN. He has risen from previously the 74th ranked prospect to now an elite status after a strong showing at the Pangos All-American Camp. Shepard stars for the Grace Prep Lions in Texas. The team

The center compares himself to Tim Duncan who has been in the NBA for 13 seasons. Shepard has been described as being a streaky shooter, and needing to improve footwork around the hoop. He has a tendency to get into foul trouble, though when able to play can play defense really well. Shepard can knock down the short jumper, yet struggles with anything outside of 10 feet from the hoop.

Kansas already has two four-star recruits for the class of 2013 in Connor Frankemp, and Brannen Greene.
