Incoming freshman shooting guard Milton Doyle has decided to leave Kansas after the summer term ends, and not return for fall. Doyle, originally signed with Florida International, only to change after head coach Isiah Thomas was fired. The guard from Chicago Metro signed with Kansas, and was a part of the team’s exhibition trip to Europe where he scored 10 points, and picked up 25 total minutes in the four games.
Though with the arrival of fellow freshman guard Anrio Adams, and returning players Travis Releford, Elijah Johnson, redshirt freshman Ben McLemore, and Naadir Thorpe, playing time would of been scarce for Doyle. Head coach Bill Self compared Doyle to new NBA rookie Tyshawn Taylor who will suit up for the New Jersey Nets next season.
Now with Doyle’s departure, the Jayhawks recruiting class is down to seven players. McLemore, and Adams are joined by redshirt freshman Jamari Taylor, Perry Ellis, Zach Peters, Landen Lucas, and Andrew White. The roster is rounded out by two walk-on freshman guards Evan Manning and Tyler Self. With the large group of returning players and strong freshman class, Kansas is expected to once again rule the Big 12 conference.
