Recruiting: Kansas lands Joey Bloomfield

Ballard High school offensive lineman Joey Bloomfield signed with Kansas as part of the 2013 recruiting class. The 6-6 senior spurned San Diego State, Houston, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, Fordham and Tennessee-Martin. Bloomfield is Kansas’s 7th prospect signed for the year.

Bloomfield is ranked as the no. 7 senior in Kentucky, and a 3-star prospect as ranked by, and 24/7 sports. He is ranked as the 50th offensive lineman of the class.

Kansas offered Bloomfield  a scholarship in February. Later on in the year, he visited the school and liked what he saw. Bloomfield is excited to play for a Big 12 school.The lineman cited the new coaching staff as his main reason for signing with Kansas.  Bloomfield’s stock rose after a Memphis Nike Camp in July, which brought further schools into play. Bloomfield wants to play either guard or tackle at Kansas.

Bloomfield joins linbacker Kellen Ash,  quarterbacks Montell Cozart and Jordan Darling. Tight end Ben Johnson,and defensive backs Taylor Lewis and Colin Spencer round out  the 2013 class so far.
