AMW France defeats Kansas, 79-60

Kansas freshman Perry Ellis got some quality time in Sunday’s 79-60 loss to AMW France. Ellis scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Jayhawks who struggled to keep up with the French professionals in the fourth quarter.

Elijah Johnson, Jeff Withey and Travis Releford along with Ben McLemore sat out the game in order to give the young guys a chance. Releford is still recovering from an injury. AMW France held a 20-18 lead after the first quarter, while Kansas took a little lead at halftime of 34-31. Then the French professionals began to take over in the third quarter. The lead was five for AMW France heading into the final quarter, where they over-ran the young Jayhawks.

Max Kouguere of AMW France led all scorers with 21 points and 10 boards. Former Washington forward Kevin Seraphin totaled 20 points for the home team. Freshman Andrew White scored 15 points for Kansas, who have one more day in Paris before returning back home.

Kansas for the game shot 32%, while AMW France wasn’t too much better at 41%. Kansas struggled once again from the free-throw line making just 13-21 attempts and from the 3-point line connecting on only five of 20 attempts.
