As training camps all around the NFL begin this week, here is a look at former Kansas Jayhawks players currently fighting for jobs in the league.
Tim Biere: This former tight end at Kansas is among five tight ends at Kansas City fighting for a job. Tony Moeki, Kevin Boss, Steve Maneri, and Steve O’Connell are the others. Biere is an undrafted free agent who played for Kansas last season.
Dezmon Briscoe: Briscoe is looking for a job at Tampa Bay. The former wide receiver from Kansas, made the active squad last season. He has an inside track on a roster spot. While at Kansas, Briscoe set a team record for receiving yards with 3,240 yards.
Anthony Collins: This offensive lineman for Cincinnati shouldn’t have any trouble of securing a spot. This is Collins fourth year in the league after being drafted by the Bengals in 2009.
Chris Harris: Harris had a great rookie season for Denver, posting totals of 65 tackles, six pass breakups and an interception. He aims to improve upon these stats this season.
Steven Johnson: This undrafted free agent for Denver is vying for a roster spot as a linebacker. As a senior at Kansas, he led the league in tackles with 124. Now, Johnson is hoping for a chance.
Kerry Meier: After a stellar career at Kansas as a wide receiver and before that a quarterback, Meier was picked up by Atlanta in the 2010 NFL Draft. He hasn’t done much since getting drafted, making him one to watch during the training camp.
Moran Norris: This fullback is with San Francisco, fighting for a spot. He has been with the team since 2009, after signing a deal. Norris has previously played for New Orleans, Houston, and Detroit.
Mike Rivera: This linebacker is currently looking to jump up from the practice squad at New England to being active. After signing as an undrafted free agent with Chicago in 2009, this is Rivera’s fifth team.
Darrell Stuckey: This safety is currently on the San Diego Chargers roster. He hasn’t done much since getting drafted in 2010. Though this season could be a breakout year for this former Jim Thorpe finalist in college.
Aqib Talib: This cornerback is playing for Tampa Bay. He has made 17 career interceptions since getting drafted in 2008. Talib is fighting for a starting job with the Buccaneers.
