Kansas Players in the MLB Update

There are a few University of Kansas players in the MLB or triple-AAA. I have looked at few earlier this season. Here is an update on them.

Tom Gorzelanny: In relief action for the Washington Nationals, Gorzelanny has posted a 2-1 record this season. His second victory just came last Sunday against the Boston Red Sox. Gorzelanny pitched one inning of relief for the Nationals in getting the victory. For the season he has a ERA of 3.26, and has appeared in 18 games.

Mike Zagurski: This relief pitcher has appeared in 14 games for the Philadelphia Phillies. He has an ERA of 4.50 for Philadelphia. He last pitched on Monday for 0.2 innings vs Texas. He gave up one hit, and had two strikeouts for the team. Zagurski for his MLB career has only one win, though he hasn’t gotten as much innings to pitch before this season.

Sam Freeman: A new Jayhawk in the major leagues. Freeman was recently called to St. Louis from their double-A team. Freeman has appeared in two games since the call-up, not yet giving up an earned run for the Cardinals.

Kansas does have a number of minor league players itching to move up to the major leagues and gaining an opportunity like Freeman.
