Incoming recruit Perry Ellis, winner of many high school awards, including Gatorade Kansas boys player of the year award the past four years
, is expected to start next year for Kansas.
Thomas Robinson, elected to head onward for the NBA after his junior season, leaving the post up for grabs. Ellis is head coach Bill Self’s top power forward on the roster.
Ellis turned down Wichita State, Kentucky, and Kansas State to sign with Kansas. He became Kansas’s first-time all-state selection all four seasons at Heights High School in Wichita Heights. The high school won Kansas 6A title all four seasons.
Ellis totaled 2,281 career points for the high school. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 26 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and a block for his senior season. Ellis also ranks as a great student in the classroom. He currently holds a cumulative 4.00 GPA and stands as head of his class. Ellis is also secretary of the schools National Honor Society chapter.
