The rivals from Lawrence and Manhattan, Kansas are set to meet once again on the baseball field. Kansas State is the host for the three-game series beginning on Friday.
This series is huge due to the current Big 12 standings. Kansas holds a 1- and a half game lead over Kansas State for eighth place in the Big 12. Only eight teams are allowed to the conference tournament, meaning it is a must-win for both squads as six games remain in the season.
Kansas State is 22-27 on the season, Kansas holds a 19-29 mark after losing two straight this past weekend in the Jayhawk Classic. Frank Duncan remains Kansas’s top pitcher with a 3.34 ERA. He will have an outing this weekend. Jordan Dreiling is the Jayhawks top batter at .310 percent.
Kansas State loves to score runs, averaging 6.1 per game. The Wildcats average more then Kansas by almost two per game. Jared King is batting .376 for Kansas State.
