According to Rivals.com, the Kansas Jayhawks left a “strong impression” on recruit Jamone Boyd during a visit to the school. The 6’4″, 245 pound defensive end from Lee’s Summit, Missouri is a four-star recruit and one of the top 150 recruits in the 2013 recruiting class.
Jamone Boyd has an ESPN Scout Grade of 80 and is ranked by them as the 13th best DE in the 2013 class. Scout, meanwhile, has him at 20th at DE on their board. The four-star recruit is one of the top 25 recruits in the Midlands and is arguably the best recruit in the state of Missouri.
The strongside defensive end currently holds offers from Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Purdue. Boyd also has interest from Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan, Nebraska, Alabama, Northern Iowa, and Oklahoma.
He attended the junior days at Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas and is well known for his strength that allows him to disrupt plays in the backfield before they develop. Jamone Boyd has the physical makeup of a good DE in college, and he has the strength to be able to kick inside in a 4-3 in certain situations depending on the scheme.
Boyd’s strength and physical play has allowed him to gain offers from some top schools, and he is definitely one of the best 20 DEs in the nation; most likely near the top 15.
Right now, Jamone Boyd will most likely go to any of the six teams that have offered him, except Purdue. The good visit to Kansas was important, and KU fans will hope that it lingers in the talented DE’s mind. His recruitment is wide open right now, so a good visit can go a long way. Keep tabs on Arkansas in this recruitment, because Paul Petrino is recruiting this guy and Bobby was, of course, ousted.
