Offensive line recruit Joey Bloomfield recently took a visit to Lawrence, Kansas, and he is one of the top OL targets for the Jayhawks in the 2013 recruiting class. In fact, Charlie Weis is the man in charge of his recruitment.
The OT from Louisville, Kentucky stands at 6’6″, weighs in at 315 pounds, and he can bench 350. Bloomfield runs a 5.1 forty yard dash and can squat 510. School isn’t a problem for him, as he had a 3.7 GPA at Ballard High.’
A three-star recruit, Joey Bloomfield is around the top 50 offensive tackle recruits in the nation. 247Sports gives him a grade of 83, and the recruiting outlets all agree that he is a three-star guy and can be a quality OT at the collegiate level.
In his recruitment, Bloomfield has visited Kansas, Kentucky, Clemson, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. His recruitment picked up when he traveled to Virginia, and he received his first offer from Kansas a few days later. He enjoyed his first offer from them and his visit to Lawrence in early April.
As of right now, Joey Bloomfield has three offers from Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. The Buffaloes offered him in the middle of this month, and all three teams are locked in as the favorites. KU is a likely destination, but all three of these teams have offered him and are right there.
Joey Bloomfield is one of the better tackles in the 2013 class, and there is a good chance the rising recruit goes to Kansas. He did like his visit to Virginia Tech back in mid-February, and we’ll see if they amp up their recruitment. There are a few major programs in the background that are checking in on Bloomfield, so expect a few more teams to be interested in him as spring turns into summer.
