In a 101-98 win for the Miami Heat, former Kansas Jayhawks star point guard and National Championship winner Mario Chalmers went 1-3 (1-2 from three) with three points in the three-point victory.
He saw 23 minutes of action as the starting point guard, although rookie backup Norris Cole tripled his scoring output in the victory over the Nets. Chalmers finished with four assists, three turnovers, a foul, and the Heat were three points better with Chalmers on the floor in a game of threes.
New Orleans Hornets guard Xavier Henry saw 18 minutes of action coming off of the bench in an ugly (what did you expect) 75-67 victory over the 7-53 Charlotte Bobcats. Henry went 0-5 but scored two points after hitting both of his foul shots. He added a block and a steal with two assists and fouls apiece, but Henry also never turned it over and amassed six rebounds.
Point guard Kirk Hinrich is a favorite of Jayhawks fans, and he helped the playoff-bound Hawks cruise to an easy game over the Toronto Raptors by going 3-6 in 27 minutes, despite missing both of his three-pointers. Hinrich finished with six points, two rebounds, but the one assist was a surprise given his usual pass-first style. He finished without a turnover, three fouls, and a +/- of +4.
Those are the three former Kansas players in the NBA who were given a look in this edition, although others- such as Cole Aldrich- also played.
