Kansas has stuck by their mantra from the Turner Gill era in which they have said that they will be recruiting one, if not multiple, QB’s every year. After the huge signing in Brock Berglund (even though it’s off to a rocky start), the Jayhawks have made another big signing in the QB department ensuring they will have some solid competition at the position for the next few years.
At 6’5” 200 lbs, Seth Russell is ranked as a 3-star recruit by the always reputable Rivals.com, and the 26th best dual-threat QB in the country. Russell was recently touring the country working out for different teams and after all that he decided that Lawrence was where he wanted to be.
Russell is going in to his senior year and wanted to get his recruitment over with before the season started and that is just what he did. Russell has good size, good mobility and a strong arm. If Webb or Berglund struggle this year expect him to compete for the starting gig next year. If one of those two have a great season, then Russell could be redshirted to wait his turn. Either way, it’s good to see talent continue to roll in to Lawrence.
