According to this article from KUAthletics.com Thomas Robinson impressed college players and NBA scouts alike at the Amar’e Stoudamire Skills camp recently. Going up against the likes of Jared Sullinger (OSU), Alex Oriakhi (UCONN), and Mouphtaou Yarou (Villanova), Robinson was more than able to hold his own. Some highlights from the article:
From ESPN’s Eamon Brennan:
The Jayhawk flew down the court, challenged shots at the rim, finished inside rebounds and low-post moves with strength and athleticism, and threw down the indisputable dunk of the day — a cocked one-handed fast break alley-oop that caused plenty of stone-faced NBA scouts in attendance to cast each other knowingly excited glances.
Some T-Rob quotes:
“I found out like two weeks before camp started. I just took it as an opportunity to go out and prove myself as a better player.”
“I know my game but I think I showed more people that I’m more versatile with my offensive game. I drove the ball to the basket a lot this weekend at the camp.”
“Yes, I won’t settle for anything else.” (In reference to whether or not he wants to be an All-American)
This is definitely an encouraging sign for the coming basketball season for the Jayhawks. There is going to be a lot of pressure on Robinson to perform so if he can keep this up and be the player we know he has the potential to be then he will lead Kansas to the heights they’re accustomed.
